Born into a family of diplomats, Pepe Macodou Fall, known as Mokodu, is a Rome-based Senegalese multifaceted artist. He kicked off his creative journey as a cartoonist and when he moved to Italy he worked as an actor and movie producer. At the same time, he nourished his passion for figurative art and portraits, focusing on the creation of paintings inspired by the iconic figures of the African renaissance. His works have been showcased across the world, including at the Paris Art Fair, the Rome Biennale and the Dak’art biannual exhibition in Dakar. In 2017, after meeting the founder of the Afro Fashion Association, he entered the fashion world and the following year he launched his first collection, called “Jardin de l’amour”. Aiming at blending art into fashion, Mokodu for the Fall/Winter 2021 capsule collection presented at Milan Fashion Week painted a range of up-cycled pieces, including a jumpsuit, a mannish suit, an A-line coat and a sheath dress with multicolor striking paint brush strokes for a unique look, focused on customization and sustainability.
